San Amado
The fields below the mountain pass are covered in wildflowers; we are watching a redstart in the blossoming hawthorn. It was late last summer when we visited for the first and last time together, when the meadows were being cut for hay.
San Amado is affectionately dedicated to my mother, who passed away in May 2023 following chronic struggles with alcoholism. My photographs honour the distances that are woven into our relationship—distances we overcome when we meet in dreams. Set against the backdrop of home, the work is marked by a constancy of love and acceptance of truths, by our strength, and by our willingness to be joyful. San Amado is an homage to my siblings and extended family—unwavering love that transcends new distances.
